Using
GoalTutor (top)
Using GoalTutor
involves these five steps:
- Collect
copies of your organization's, department's and manager's goals.
- Download
the workbook so you have it to refer to during the video-mini
lectures.
- View
the video mini-lectures. (Download the worksheets required by
each mini-lecture if you decided not to download the entire workbook.)
- Do the
exercises as directed by the narrator.
- Review
your organization's, department's and manager's goals and select
those you can impact.
- Identify
the customers of your position and what results they need from
you.
- Draw
measurement ideas from your organization's, department's and manager's
goals or QuickMeasures.
- Create
measures where you need to.
- Set
goals for each measure.
- Plan
how you'll track performance.
- Discuss
the draft measures and goals with your manager to finalize them.
Downloading/Viewing/Printing
the Workbook (top)
GoalTutor
uses the ZPG publication How to Measure Employee Performance
for supplimental readings, worksheets, instructions and examples. You
can access this manual on the internet or from your CDROM. To view or
print the manual:
- Click
the Workbook button in the tool bar above.
- Scroll
down to the "Click to view and print" section and click
a link.
- Click
the first link to view the entire workbook if you have a high-speed
internet connection or the CDROM version.
- Click
the other links if you are accessing GoalTutor via a dial-up modem
connection.
Viewing
the video mini-lectures (top)
- Make
sure you are using Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher. Netscape will
not work at this time, nor will any browser on a Macintosh.
- Go to
the Chapters page and click on the chapter title you wish to view.
- Scroll
down to the Presentations section.
- Click
the link matching your type of internet connection.
- Wait
until the "Play" link appears. Be patient as downloading
may take a minute or two.
- Click
"Play" to view mini-lecture.
- Inside
the mini-lecture:
- Click
the first button to pause/play
- Click
the second button to go to the previous slide
- Click
the third button to go to the next slide
- Click
any item in the table of contents to jump to that slide
- Click
pause to stop the presentation so you can click on a link in the slide.
